Another week of school

It's been a while since the last post, but there hasn't been much to blog about anyway. I watched the first lecture for Abnormal Psych and it looks like it's going to be a very interesting course. The prof is quite the enthusiastic individual and i'm sure i'll learn a lot through watching him lecture on my computer. However, the course i'm most looking forward to going every week is Film and Modernity. It's an English course where we watch classic films from the romance, horror and sci fi genres, and discuss the issues and themes that revolve around them.
We're starting the course with the romance genre and we have now watched It Happened One Night (1930) and The Graduate (1968). Both are great films, but i personally enjoyed It Happened One Night much more. The story is well written and the directing and editing is superb. I never would of thought black and white films would have such potential to captivate my attention.
We also do scene analysis in this course which is basically the discussion of the use of editing and filming techniques used by the director to portray symbolic and emotional elements. It brings back memories since I used to do this back in high school for Media Arts, which was my favorite class of all. Aside from school, there was much GTA4 playing throughout the week, which i'm sure pretty much anyone who owns an Xbox or PS3 is doing as well.
Actually there is one thing worth mentioning this week. Today i attended the graduation ceremony for the new batch of Toronto police recruits of 2008. Though they're not exactly recruits anymore, but official constables or 'rookies' as of today. And so id like to congratulate Constable Richie Law who is now dedicating his life and energy in protecting and serving the city that is Toronto.
That's it for now, and it's time to catch up on some readings.
